Bio-Medical Imaging

We have expertise in various medical imaging and analysis techniques including Magnetic Resonance, Computed Tomography, Fluoroscopy, and X-ray. We employ standard and custom image analysis techniques.

Magnetic resonance imaging and automated analysis of cartilage thickness, volume, and T2 relaxation time.

Magnetic resonance image of a human knee. Automated analysis of cartilage thickness, volume, and T2 relaxation time.

Magnetic resonance image of a human spine. Key spinal tissues are segmented and reconstructed in 3D Slicer.

Bio-Mechanics

We use multi-axis sensors to track the motion and loading in humans, animals, and biomechanical devices.

Bio-Robotics

We use an industrial serial arm robot (Kuka KR 160) to apply physiological loading (kinetics and kinematics) to human and animal joints. This system supports fundamental orthopaedic research and testing of medical devices and implants.
